The recreation
The interactive slap on this site uses high-performance frame sequencing to demonstrate how the mechanic works. It is designed to be the definitive modern preservation of the experience, and timing or timing accuracy may differ slightly from the 2011 original.
Accuracy of historical claims
Early-web history is patchy. Dates and origin stories are reconstructed from archived snapshots and secondary accounts, both of which can be incomplete. Where the record is unclear we say so rather than guess. If you can improve a claim with a source, please send it.
